They’re Alive!! January 31, 2008

 

The little guys are hanging in there so far and to date we remain bugless which is a huge relief!!  The tank isn’t fully re-cycled yet though, so we aren’t entirely out of the woods of danger, but keep your fingers crossed that with plenty of water changes, etc. we can pull this off.

 

Mike has forbidden me to get anymore real-live plants though, as he is convinced that the bugs came in on the last plant that we added.  So, I went out and bought some new fake foilage and then re-arranged the whole tank.  I figured it was a good time for a makeover as we were starting over again from scratch.

Eternity Ring

 

Well, I finally came across an eternity ring that I actually liked – to go with my wedding band and my engagement ring.  It’s nothing huge, fancy or expensive…but I am none of those things anyways, so it’s a perfect fit for me.  I don’t normally treat myself to jewellry of any kind, but as our 10th wedding anniversary is coming up, I figured I might as well, especially after finding something that I really liked.  I never find things that I really like…

 

The shop said it can also be used as a wedding band, but I like how it sits between my two rings, so I am going to call it my diamond ‘Eternity Ring’.

 

We bought the ring in Ernest Jones and the above photo is my ring exactly, except mine is in 18c yellow gold to match my other rings.  I couldn’t find a photo of it in yellow gold on their website for some reason?

Okay…so I spent forever playing around with my camera after I picked up the ring yesterday and I just about managed to get a couple of shots where you can see my new ring and how it looks with my other rings. 

What do you think?  I love it and I am really pleased.

Small Update January 21, 2008

 

Hello all,

 

We are both very busy this week, so I only have time for a quick update:

 

• The diet is going well and we have both lost just over 17lbs each.  Yay!!
• We have had to clean out the entire fish tank and start all over again.  We can’t say if the fish will actually survive the recycling process, but we were over run with bugs.  So far, no one seems to know what they were, I just hope that they don’t find their way back again.
• I am flying up to Manchester tomorrow for a 2 day Manager’s event for work, so I will have to test our diet under extreme temptations…I will let you know how that works out.
• They have delayed my start date in the new department until the beginning of February.  I do understand why, but it’s getting boring waiting and thinking about the new changes.
• We finally finished the 4 hour workshop presentations that we had to do at work last week to nearly 60 people.  I hate speaking in front of people, especially for 4 hours, but they went really well overall.  We were definitely a good team.  It’s such a relief to have that all over with though, I actually jumped up and down when we finally finished the last one!!
• We have been getting out walking in the countryside each weekend which has been really good.  I just can’t believe how out of shape I let myself get (again).  It’s been really nice warm weather, but a bit muddy so we went and got Mike a new pair of wellies.  I do love a man in wellies!!
• We’ve also been doing sit ups and I might even go out on the cross trainer after I finish posting this.  I really do have lots more energy now, which I am really enjoying.

Any how, that’s about it.  Keep your fingers crossed that our little fish survive.  It’s surprising how attached you can get to 2 little goldfish.

It Really ‘Bugs’ Me January 16, 2008

 

Just as we thought that we were getting the hang of keeping fish…it now seems that our tank has been infested with loads of disgusting little beetle, type crustations!!  I noticed them last night because they were all crawling around in the tank’s filter.  We took it out and got rid of all of those ones, but they were back in the same numbers when I went down to check on them again this morning.

 

The tails on Hoover & Dyson aren’t looking so good either.  They seem a bit frazzled and they just aren’t looking as good as they normally do.  The fish all seem to be swimming around as though they are pissed off and the little guys are all schooling together which they don’t normally do.

 

I can’t seem to find anything very useful on the internet about what all of this mess may be.  I think Mike may have been over feeding them when it’s his turn though and one possibility seems to be that they are copepods that may have increased in numbers due to the fish being over fed.

 

Guess I better get down to the fish store to see what the guys in there think.  I hope that there is something I can treat the tank with to get rid of these little critters.  They aren’t very attractive and they are freaking me out a bit and I don’t want anything hurting my babies…

 

If anyone reading this can offer any help or suggestions, that would be greatly appreciated.

 

Pray for my little fishies, they need all the help that they can get as I haven’t a clue how to take care fo them really, I am still a newbie to fish keeping.

It’s a New Year….And Hopefully We’ll Have New Bodies Soon January 6, 2008

 

For those of you who know Mike and I at all, you will know that we love eating our food!!  And since I quit smoking on 21/03/2005 I have gained a massive 50-60 lbs!!  The amazing thing is, that even though Mike never smoked a cigarette a day in his life – he has also managed to gain at least as much as I did since I quit smoking.  And it’s not like we were really small to begin with, so this extra weight has really pushed us over the limit and we do have our cruise fast approaching as well as other activities we have planned that need us fit and healthy…

 

So as from today, we have started a very hard core weight loss plan, called Lipotrim.  You can have a closer look at their very unsophisticated website here.  It’s a total meal replacement plan as we should lose up to a stone or more a month.  (14+ lbs)

 

It’s a very drastic step to take, but we have tried most other things and the science around Ketosis and pyschology behind this program really seems to make sense to us.

 

We had our first ‘meal’ for breakfast today and so far so good.  We will have to keep you posted of our progress. 

 

If you or anyone you know has had any experience using the Lipotrim program (good or bad) please let us know.

Silly Brits January 2, 2008

 

This country still manages to make me giggle from time to time…

 

The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for this evening & tomorrow morning as they are expecting temperatures to be as low as -1c and we could possibly get as much as 3cm of snow!!!

 

Now that is what I call ‘severe’. 

 

Three Years Already?? January 1, 2008

 

Last night our best friends celebrated their 3rd wedding anniversary. I can’t believe how fast time has flown by.  I miss them so much and can’t believe it’s been so long since we last saw them properly.  It was such a lovely New Year’s Eve wedding…

How Can It Possibly Be 2008 Already??

 

Happy New Year Everyone!!

 

 

I am really enjoying starting the New Year without a hangover.   This is the 2nd or 3rd year where I haven’t had a drink and have been in bed by the time old Big Ben strikes midnight.  I have to admit that the firewoks normally wake me up though…

 

I think Mike and I are just to darn tired from working so hard at this time of year.  Our jobs get busy over the holidays and it’s not very enjoyable.  I am so glad that it’s all over for another year now.

 

If I had my way it would all be cancelled…

 

On a happier note, Mike is feeling better now, so that is good.  I hate it when he is poorly.

 

I guess that this is where I should proclaim all of my resolutions for the forthcoming year….

1. To lose loads of weight. (obviously)
2. To fit back into my bridesmaid dress (from Candace’s wedding) so that I can wear it on our cruise.
3. To stress about work a lot less.

Okay, I think that’s enough promises to break, so I shall stop there.
